The 2021/22 season in Ukraine’s top division will be cancelled early due to the Russian war of aggression. The league made the announcement on Tuesday evening.
According to the announcement, all 16 clubs agreed to the decision. The standings after 18 matchdays are thus the final ones in the VBet Liha. There will be no champion. Shakhtar Donetsk lead the league by two points over defending champions Dynamo Kyiv.
Just a few hours after Russian troops attacked Ukraine on 24 February, the Ukrainian Football Federation had suspended the VBet Liha’s match operations. Originally, the winter break should have ended one day later. The last matches took place in mid-December.
