Nintendo has lifted the curtain from the Nintendo Switch 2. The release date and games for the upcoming console have been announced.
Eight years ago, the Nintendo Switch was first released. On June 5, its successor will be released – the Switch 2. The Japanese company announced this in a special episode of Nintendo Direct. The console can be pre-ordered from April 8 and will be available either as a stand-alone product (470 euros) or bundled with its new flagship: Mario Kart World (510 euros).
The latest installment in the series was also presented in a trailer and will be released on the same date as the new console. The retail price of the racing game will be either 90 euros for a physical edition or 80 euros if purchased digitally.
In Mario Kart World, there will be a freely navigable open-world game world, and the track conditions will change with the time of day and weather. Knockout Tour will be implemented as a new mode. In this mode, the slowest player in each section is eliminated. Similar to Astro’s Playroom, the Switch 2 will also get a kind of exploration game: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.
Great sports titles also for the Switch 2
From external studios, EA SPORTS FC, Madden NFL, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Sid Meier’s Civiliziation 7, Fortnite or Street Fighter 6 will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2. The recently released Super Mario Party Jamboree will also get an update with new mini-games and modes.
Nintendo also announced that it is expanding its subscription service. With Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pass, you now get exclusive access to Nintendo Game Cube games on the Switch 2.
