The German tennis player defeated the number one seed from Greece, Maria Sakkari, 2:6, 6:2, 7:6 (7:4) on Monday afternoon. Niemeier will now face Paula Badosa from Spain in the round of the best 16. Last week, the player from Dortmund had failed in the first round at the WTA tournament in Berlin.
