Nice Zverev gesture

Alexander Zverev is making a nice gesture ahead of the Australian Open. In addition, the 27-year-old feels good and “can’t wait” for the first Grand Slam of the year.

Countless hands reached out to Alexander Zverev as the German tennis star descended the steps between the 428 ball kids at the Australian Open. “We players love you. You make our game a lot easier. Most of us players were ball kids too,” said the world number two in welcoming the little helpers: “Have a lot of fun over the next three weeks!”

The children and teenagers were selected in various rounds and come from different countries. “It’s fun to be around these great players. When you first walk onto the court, it’s very exciting, but after that it can also be stressful. This is a cool opportunity that not many people get,” said Maddy, who has helped at the tournament in Melbourne several times.

Zverev was similarly excited ahead of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. “I’m looking forward to this year. I’ve worked hard during the break and can’t wait for the Australian Open to start,” said the 27-year-old. He appeared to have recovered from the biceps strain that forced him to sit out the United Cup recently. “I feel good,” said Zverev.
