Shortly after the match against 1. FC Köln, which was overshadowed by violence, the prefecture of South Corsica has refused to allow OGC Nice supporters to attend the Ligue 1 duel at AC Ajaccio.
In a statement released on Friday evening, the regional government said that due to a decree issued by the Ministry of the Interior, “the individual or collective arrival” of OGC fans on Sunday was prohibited.
This measure was taken in particular because of “the numerous disturbances to public order as a result of the violent behaviour of some fans of the two clubs” recently, it added.
In Nice on Thursday evening, on the sidelines of the Conference League match between OGC and 1. FC Köln (1-1), there were serious incidents between groups of fans inside the stadium, apparently involving violent Ultras from Nice rivals Paris St. Germain. 32 people were injured.
On the Corsican side, there were brawls between fans of bottom-placed AC Ajaccio and FC Lorient at the airport last Sunday immediately after the match between the two teams.
