The German has to admit defeat to the Finn Otto Virtanen at the start.
Tennis pro Daniel Altmaier has already been knocked out in the first round at the ATP tournament in Marrakesh. The 26-year-old lost to the Finn Otto Virtanen 2-6, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7) on Tuesday. Most recently, the Kempen native, who was the only German in the main draw in Morocco, also failed to clear the opening hurdle at the Miami Masters.
For the current world number 83, it was the next setback after an initially good start to the season. In February, Altmaier had reached the quarterfinals in both Rotterdam and Marseille.
