Next Mbappé farewell: Ethan also leaves PSG

It has been known for some time that Kylian Mbappé will no longer be wearing the Paris St. Germain shirt from next season. Brother Ethan is now also turning his back on PSG, but is moving within France.

The brothers moved to the French capital together in August 2017 – Kylian from Monaco, Ethan from AS Bondy’s youth academy. Seven years later, Paris St. Germain are once again without Mbappé, as was confirmed on Thursday evening.

In future, the 17-year-old midfielder will play for Lille OSC, who finished the past Ligue 1 season in fourth place. The four-time French champions, represented by president Olivier Létang, are looking forward to signing a “promising talent” who “fits in perfectly” with the club’s strategy

Five joker appearances with the pros

With the start of new head coach Bruno Genesio’s tenure, this strategy is based “more than ever” on integrating and promoting highly talented youngsters into the professional squad. The newcomer will “find everything at LOSC that will enable him to continue his progress and development and reach the highest level. I would also like to thank Ethan and his family for the trust they have placed in us, despite having numerous other requests,” Létang continued.

Unlike attacker Kylian, the Mbappé brother, who is almost eight years younger, feels most at home in central midfield. In this position, he not only played in numerous games with the Paris U19s, but also came on five times as a substitute for the professionals

From Mbappé’s point of view, at his young age, “the best option was to stay in France to continue my development”, for which Lille had emerged as “the best project”. “It’s a club that’s one of the best in France and it fills me with pride to be able to play here,” said the 17-year-old, looking ahead to his second professional stint.
