The exact schedules of the third division matchdays 26 to 28 promise some exciting neighbourhood duels. Due to the pandemic, however, the DFB has refrained from scheduling further matchdays already.
“Due to the currently still unclear further developments in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated restrictions regarding the admission of stadium visitors by the responsible authorities, only three match days (26 to 28) in the 3rd division will initially be scheduled precisely until the end of February,” the association’s website states. “The other match days 29 to 31 are expected to be scheduled precisely at the end of January.”
The 26th matchday in the 3rd division will take place from 11 to 14 February. Friday evening starts with the duel between Halle and Zwickau. On Saturday, the league leaders from Magdeburg have to travel to Kaiserslautern on the Betzenberg. Runners-up Meppen welcome 1860 Munich.
Hot duels in Mannheim and Meppen
It will be emotional on matchday 27 when Waldhof Mannheim host 1. FC Kaiserslautern in a derby on Sunday afternoon. There will also be a lot of tradition on the pitch the day before when Eintracht Braunschweig play VfL Osnabrück at Bremer Brücke.
The carnival weekend will be opened by Viktoria Köln on Friday evening. Their “sparring partner” is then TSV Havelse. Things will get hot on Saturday, when VfL Osnabrück have to play their rivals SV Meppen.
