The NRW state government passed a new corona protection regulation on Thursday. The stadiums will be much fuller from October than they have been recently.
Up to now, Borussia Dortmund had to “make do” with 25,000 spectators in the Signal-Iduna-Park, more were not permitted due to the Corona Protection Ordinance in North Rhine-Westphalia. According to the NRW state government, a new structure will now take effect in October – the capacities in the stadiums may be significantly increased.
Already on Saturday (3.30 p.m., LIVE! at kicker), BVB will offer its fans against Augsburg 11,000 additional tickets to the 25,000 already sold so far. After the international break, there will be considerably more against Mainz (16.10.).
“Of course, we cannot assume full capacity in such a short time, and we know that the way back to 81,365 spectators requires some patience for various reasons,” says managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke. “The new Corona Protection Ordinance stipulates that in future we will be allowed to sell all 52,692 seats and half of the 28,673 standing places. That makes a total of just over 67,000 seats. Due to the short notice of the new regulation, this can only be implemented with a view to our home match on 16 October against Mainz.”
As the current fourth-placed team in the table also announced, every adult ticket holder must be “immunised”, i.e. vaccinated against the corona virus or recovered from it.
