Nearly four months after his dismissal from Hamburger SV, Tim Walter has found a new job: The 48-year-old coach is moving to the island in the second English league, where he will coach Hull City in the future
When Hamburger SV once again found itself in a results crisis in mid-February, former sporting director Jonas Boldt, who had also involuntarily left the Red Shorts, decided to draw a line under Walter. On February 12, Boldt announced his decision to no longer work with Walter.
Since then, the former HSV coach has been without a job, but things have now changed. For the first time, Walter, who was in charge in the Hanseatic city for around two and a half years, is moving abroad. Several media outlets reported weeks ago that he was to take over the English second division club Hull City. Now it’s finally official
HSV wishes Walter every success
“Tim was always our first choice. We had many strong candidates and wanted to be thorough in our recruitment process, but it quickly became clear that Tim was the stand-out candidate,” said a delighted Acun Ilicali, Chairman of Hull City. “I believe in Tim’s philosophy and am confident that he can continue our positive development and upward trend in the coming season.” HSV also commented briefly on Walter’s commitment in England: “All the best, Tim,” wrote the Hamburg club on X.
The Championship club from the English coastal town of Kingston upon Hull finished the past season in a strong seventh place, missing out on qualification for the play-offs for promotion to the Premier League by just three points.
