Filming for the Formula 1 movie with Brad Pitt is taking place at this year’s 24 Hours of Daytona – producer Jerry Bruckheimer appointed Grand Marshal
Filming for the Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt continues – but this time not in the premier class, but at the 24 Hours of Daytona, which takes place next weekend (January 27-28). The first driving scenes were filmed during qualifying, which took place last Sunday.
The filming in Daytona is all about the Porsche 911 GT3 R with starting number 120, which is used by the fictitious team ‘Chip Hart Racing’. In real life, Wright Motorsports is responsible for racing. The steering wheel will be shared by Adam Adelson, Elliott Skeer, Jan Haylen and Frederic Makowiecki
In the new Formula 1 film, which does not yet have an official name, Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, as well as C Kelso and long-time Porsche racing driver Patrick Long will compete for the fictional team. Not all the details of the new Apple Original film are yet known. With Joseph Kosinski, an experienced director (Top Gun: Maverick) has been recruited.
Bruckheimer as ‘Grand Marshal’ in Daytona
Famous Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who has been appointed Grand Marshal for this year’s endurance classic at Daytona, is responsible for the production. He will officiate this year’s race and deliver the most famous words in motorsport.
Bruckheimer, who was responsible for “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Armageddon”, among others, has already shot scenes at Daytona for his 1990 film “Days of Thunder” starring Tom Cruise.
“Jerry Bruckheimer has produced some of the most entertaining and action-packed movies and shows of the last few decades,” says Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway. “Whether it’s fast cars, high-flying jets or fast-paced races on foot, his work mirrors the energy we’ll see at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, making him the perfect grand marshal for this year’s race.”
“Daytona International Speedway is an iconic venue, and I will be honored to be in command of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona,” said Bruckheimer. “I’ve been here for NASCAR’s biggest race and now I can’t wait to experience one of the most prestigious sports car races in the world. “
