Basketball Bundesliga club Syntainics MBC have signed Cyril Langevine from Polish first division side Wilki Morskie Szczecin, finding a replacement for centre Goran Huskic.
The 23-year-old, 2.03-metre Guyanese signed a contract for the coming season, the club announced on Sunday. Langevine, who hails from the small South American state of Guyana, was the best rebounder in the Swedish First Division (2020/21 season) and the Polish First Division (2021/22 season).
After attending the University of Rhode Island, the US-bred centre played his first professional season in 2020/2021 with Swedish first division club Jämtland Basket Östersund, with whom he reached the play-off semi-finals. A year later, Langevine moved to Poland and played half a season for Slask Wroclaw before moving to Szczecin.
Langevine is expected to start training in Weißenfels on 23 August. In preparation for the Bundesliga, which starts on 1 October, the team traditionally travels to Slovenia for a training camp. In addition, a guest trip to the Czech Republic is scheduled as well as a total of nine test matches.
