NBA names Suns coach Williams Coach of the Year

Monty Williams of the Phoenix Suns has been named the NBA’s Coach of the Year.

The 50-year-old former professional had led his team to a record of 64 wins and 18 losses in the Regular Season and thus to first place in the Western Conference. He now received the award for the first time, as the NBA announced late Monday evening (local time).

Behind Williams, who won clearly with 458 points, were Taylor Jenkins of the Memphis Grizzlies (270) and Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat (72). The Suns, led by superstar Devin Booker and 37-year-old mastermind Chris Paul, are currently the main round winners and will play the Dallas Mavericks in the second play-off round. After four games, the score is 2-2.
