With the 5-0 win against Dynamo Kiev, FC Bayern has recorded its ninth victory in a row. After the game, coach Julian Nagelsmann praised the balance between defence and offence on the one hand – and Leroy Sané on the other.
It was a pretty clear-cut affair between FC Bayern and Dynamo Kiev. When referee Marco Guida brought the game to an end after 92 minutes on Wednesday evening, a very clear result was on the scoreboard at the Allianz Arena. The Munich team had scored five goals, the visitors from Ukraine zero.
Julian Nagelsmann was particularly pleased with the latter. When the 34-year-old gave information on the DAZN microphone after the match, he also spoke about the “beautiful goals” his team had managed to score – but what he emphasised was the defence. “We had a good balance,” Nagelsmann praised and then gave another thought to the recent 3:1 in the Bundesliga in Fürth. There, his team had conceded a goal in the closing minutes; a goal that was no more than a blemish, but one about which Nagelsmann said: “It detracts from the result.”

LEROY SANÉ
Against Kiev, Manuel Neuer did not have to reach behind him. The goalkeeper had a rather quiet evening, but was on hand when he was called upon shortly before the break. In a scene in which the Bavarians were outplayed, Neuer made a fantastic save to prevent the Ukrainians from scoring again.

For this he later received praise from Nagelsmann, as did Leroy Sané. The 25-year-old had once again delivered an appealing game and scored the fourth goal himself after his assist of the 3:0 by Serge Gnabry. “Leroy deserved it,” said Nagelsmann, “he is an outstanding player with a very good character, he showed that today.”
Sané was the most eye-catching man on the pitch with his dribbles, his finishes and his involvement in the goal, though later he admitted, referring to his goal: “It wasn’t intentional, I wanted to cross the ball in normally, but I was a bit lucky that my technique wasn’t so good at that moment.” From a cross position, the ball flew into the Kiev goal – just under a quarter of an hour later, substitute Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting had the final say and made it 5-0 on the scoreboard.
