Nadal: “Worry about my foot every day”

Indian Wells – Record Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal will have problems with his foot for the rest of his career.

“That I don’t worry about my foot anymore is not true. I worry about my foot every day because I have an injury that I can’t fix,” said the 35-year-old Spaniard. “The foot will never be at 100 per cent again.”

Nadal is the tennis professional with the most major victories in tennis history since winning the Australian Open. He has 21 triumphs at the four major tournaments, one more each than Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Nadal is also undefeated this year, having won all 15 matches.

“I have to find the right balance between competition and the moments when I better stop. If I can find a way to play my calendar, then I really can’t ask for more. That’s my goal,” Nadal said.

He is seeded number four at the first Masters of the year and will first face either American Sebastian Korda or qualifier Thanasi Kokkinakis of Greece after a bye in the first round.
