Nadal in first final since 2022

The former world number one will face Argentina’s Thiago Agustin Tirante or Portugal’s Nuno Borges in the final in Bastad

Tennis star Rafael Nadal has ended a long dry spell on his way to the Olympic Games in Paris by reaching the final of the ATP tournament in Bastad, Sweden. The Spaniard defeated the Croatian Duje Ajdukovic 4:6, 6:3, 6:4, Nadal’s first appearance in a final in two years.

“Winning four matches in a row is something I haven’t managed for a long time. That’s why it’s something special for me,” said Nadal after the match.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner reached his first final since the French Open 2022, when Nadal was beaten by the Norwegian Casper Ruud. In the final in Bastad on Sunday, the last acid test before the Olympics, the Majorcan will face Thiago Agustin Tirante from Argentina or Nuno Borges from Portugal.

From July 27, clay court king Nadal will be fighting for his third gold medal on his favorite surface at the Stade Roland Garros in his fourth Olympic appearance
