Paris – It’s actually a normal round of 16 match for Rafael Nadal at the French Open. This Sunday, the 13-time Paris champion will face Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the battle for a place in the quarter-finals.
And yet it is a very special duel for Nadal, because in his opponent’s box sits someone who knows him better than anyone else: his uncle Toni.
Toni Nadal is the one who made Nadal who he is: the player with the most Grand Slam tournament victories. In the meantime, however, the 61-year-old is Auger-Aliassime’s coach and can thus give the Canadian valuable tips.
How much respect does Nadal have for this special constellation? Little, as the Spaniard said. “He is my uncle. I don’t think he wants to see me lose,” Nadal said.
