Nashville SC have reached the play-offs in the MLS. Once again thanks to ex-Herthanian Hany Mukhtar
The award for “MVP”, so prized in US sports, has not yet been handed out, but in MLS Hany Mukhtar can count on a great chance this season. The ex-Herthanian, who moved from Brøndby to the then newly founded Nashville SC for around three million euros in January 2020, excelled in the regular season with 16 goals and ten assists.
And in the play-in game against Orlando City on Tuesday night (local time), he almost single-handedly fired his team into the first play-off round. Mukhtar equalised Orlando’s lead through Daryl Dyke (14th) with a deflected shot (21st), after the change of ends he turned the game around with an outstanding solo run (74th) before Jhonder Cadiz made it 3-1 in the fourth minute of injury time.
In the play-offs, Mukhtar and Nashville now take on Philadelphia. The Union around the Germans Kacper Przybylko and Kai Wagner had finished the season in second place in the Eastern Conference, Nashville in third.
