Honda rider Marc Marquez is back training on a motorbike for the first time since his fourth arm surgery and continues to work towards his MotoGP comeback
On 25 August, doctors gave Marc Marquez the green light to train on a motorbike again. Five days later, the time had come: on Wednesday, the Spaniard got back on a bike for the first time since Mugello, and it was his usual training bike, the Honda CBR600RR.
The training venue was the kart track in Aragon, not far from the circuit where MotoGP will be held in the middle of the month. Before that, the San Marino Grand Prix is scheduled for this weekend, where a two-day test will also take place next week.
It is still unclear whether Marquez will be able to take part. However, Honda has repeatedly stressed the importance of involving the six-time MotoGP champion as early as possible in the development of next year’s bike.
Marquez himself stressed during his recent visit to the MotoGP paddock on the sidelines of the Austrian Grand Prix that he would “understand immediately” whether or not getting back on the bike would be enough. That’s because he was still struggling with limitations before his fourth and final surgery on his upper right arm.

The pictures shared by the Honda rider and his team on their social media channels on Wednesday suggest that the first impression was positive.
Marquez himself wrote: “Today I can’t stop smiling. After a huge effort, I’m back on the bike. Thanks to everyone who always pushes me! Let’s keep going!!!” So it sounds like the 29-year-old is ready to take the next step.
Most recently, he announced his intention to ride “a few races” this year. At the same time, Marquez was adamant that he did not want to rush things: “I am aware of how important this rehabilitation is. If I have to wait another week, I will wait. “
