Moto3 Sachsenring FT3 2022: Izan Guevara fastest with lap record

Izan Guevara sets first 1:25 lap in Moto3 class at Sachsenring – PrüstelGP team makes it straight into Q2 with one rider

Izan Guevara underlined his strong form again in the third Moto3 practice session for the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. The GasGas rider set the first 1’25s lap to take the lead ahead of Ayumu Sasaki and David Munoz.

Top conditions prevailed at the Sachsenring on Saturday morning as well. With an air temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, faster times than on Friday were possible right from the start. It didn’t start well for Lorenzo Fellon, who crashed in turn 1 in his first run.

Most of the riders tried to improve their personal best time in the course of the practice. As the final phase began, Andrea Migno also crashed in turn 1, causing yellow flags for a short time.

Guevara also underlined his strong form on Saturday, which he had already shown on the first day of practice. The Spaniard was able to set top times on his own and marked a new lap record with 1:25.925 minutes. That was the first 1:25 Moto3 time at the Sachsenring.

His GasGas teammate Sergio Garcia had more trouble and had to find a rear wheel of a fast front man. In the end, the World Championship leader made it to sixth place and also qualified directly for Q2.

First pursuer of Guevara was returnee Sasaki. Shooting star Munoz was again in third place. The other places went to rookie Scott Ogden and Tatsuki Suzuki. Behind Garcia, Ryusei Yamanaka, John McPhee, Dennis Foggia and Jaume Masia followed from seventh onwards.

One rider from the PrüstelGP team made it straight into Q2. That was Carlos Tatay in 14th place, seven tenths of a second behind. Team-mate Xavier Artigas finished in 22nd place and will therefore have to compete in Q1.

The Moto3 qualifying will take place from 12:35 onwards.
