Dennis Foggia leads the second Moto3 practice session in the wet ahead of Mario Aji and Andrea Migno – Top 14 from Friday straight into Q2 – Sergio Garcia has to start 17th in Q1
Dennis Foggia finished the second Moto3 Free Practice session at Motegi fastest. On a rain-soaked track, the Honda rider marked the fastest time with a 2’09.684, edging out brand-mates Mario Aji and Andrea Migno, who finished second and third respectively
Conditions were wet and hazy from the start. Therefore, there were no improvements compared to Friday. Nevertheless, the field made intensive use of the practice time, as rain was expected to continue throughout the day and thus qualifying was also to take place in the wet.
Despite the adverse conditions, there were few incidents. Xavier Artigas and Carlos Tatay (both CFMoto) braked in turn 10, but remained seated. Taiyo Furusato (Honda) caused the first crash in turn 11 at the halfway point. Elia Bartolini (KTM) and John McPhee (Husqvarna) also went down in the closing stages.

Foggia caused a bit of a surprise with his best time, as the Honda rider was not exactly known as a rain specialist so far. Aji, on the other hand, had already shown his talent in such conditions and was only 81 thousandths behind in second place.
Alongside Migno, Tatsuki Suzuki completed the Honda line-up at the top. McPhee finished fifth despite his late crash. Behind them were Deniz Öncü (KTM), Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM), Tatay, Sergio Garcia (GasGas) and Riccardo Rossi (Honda).
This order has no influence on the overall classification. Friday’s fastest rider Diogo Moreira (KTM) remains in front with a time of 1:57.252 minutes. Foggia, Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), David Munoz (KTM) and McPhee complete the top 5.
As always, the top 14 riders move directly into Q2. Because the current World Championship runner-up Garcia did not make it yesterday and only finished the day in 17th place, he will have to compete in Q1.
Directly qualified for Q2 are:
Diogo Moreira (KTM)
Dennis Foggia (Honda)
Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna)
David Munoz (Honda)
John McPhee (Husqvarna)
Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda)
Izan Guevara (GasGas)
Riccardo Rossi (Honda)
Andrea Migno (Honda)
Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM)
Deniz Öncü (KTM)
Kaito Toba (KTM)
Adrian Fernandez (KTM)
Jaume Masia (KTM)
