Moto2/Moto3 2024: Adjustments to the schedule and technical regulations

Moto2 and Moto3 will follow MotoGP: From the 2024 season, riders will be able to gain experience in the first session of the weekend without pressure

The sporting regulations of the Moto2 World Championship and Moto3 World Championship will be slightly adapted for the 2024 season. The smaller classes of the Motorcycle World Championship will follow the MotoGP, which has only had one practice session relevant to qualifying since the summer of 2023.

From 2024, Moto2 and Moto3 World Championship riders will also be able to ride without pressure in the first session of each weekend. The free practice session on Friday morning is used for set-up and has no influence on qualifying for Q2.

The riders and teams had expressed the wish to adapt the format in this direction in order to be able to work more effectively on set-up at the start of a new race weekend.

There is also a new definition of private test days. From 2024, only the test days of contracted drivers will be counted. Previously, the respective teams were also counted. This counting method was changed because some teams also use the same equipment in other championships.

The weight of the riders and machines has been clarified for 2024. As soon as the riders arrive at Parc Ferme, they must appear for the weigh-in. Until now, riders have been able to speak to their teams and media representatives before the weigh-in. This will no longer be possible from 2024.

The technical regulations of the Moto2 World Championship and Moto3 World Championship will be specified with regard to the grip rubbers. The size and shape will be precisely specified in the regulations. In addition, it is now stipulated that a rider must have both hands on the handlebars
