In her home match in Frankfurt/Main, mixed martial arts fighter Katharina Dalisda made her debut. The 31-year-old local hero became the first German to win a title at Europe’s biggest MMA promotion “Oktagon MMA”. In the main fight of the evening, Dalisda won the strawweight title against Jacinta Austin from Australia.

Around 10,000 spectators watched the eleven duels on Saturday evening at the “Oktagon 46” event in Frankfurt’s Festhalle. Besides Dalisda, Kerim Engizek from Düsseldorf also celebrated a victory. In his Oktagon debut, he beat Matias Juarez from Argentina, his twelfth success in a row.

Oktagon MMA” was already a guest in the Main metropolis for the third time. At the next event in Germany on 18 November, up to 20,000 fans are expected in the Cologne Arena. “This is the next step on the journey. We have to do pioneering work,” said Philipp Masurat, Germany boss of Oktagon, at the “SID MixedZone”.

The goal is “that we fill football stadiums in the future and raise the excitement to a new level – maybe with 50,000 to 60,000 people,” he said. It is a matter of breaking down “prejudices”: “We still have to explain to the people in Germany that there is much, much more to football than blood and violence.
