“Milan is eFootball”: Konami beats EA SPORTS and FC 25

Now it’s official: Konami has secured the exclusive rights for Milan’s two top clubs. Inter and AC are only playable in eFootball – the competition from EA SPORTS comes away empty-handed

David Jackson, Vice President of the EA SPORTS FC brand, had already announced it at the end of July: FC 25 will have to make do without Inter and AC Milan. The Vancouver-based developer has lost the license tug-of-war for the two Serie A heavyweights. Following this announcement, it was assumed that Konami had beaten its rival to the punch – the publisher confirmed this on Thursday.

“eFootball will be the only soccer simulation in which the two Italian giants will be represented from the 2024/25 season,” reads the press release. At the same time, “the successful partnerships in which Konami is also a partner for the training apparel of both clubs will continue”. On X, the developer celebrates the double coup with the words “Milan is eFootball.”

Is EA SPORTS taking over Serie A?

From Serie A, Atalanta Bergamo and Lazio Rome were previously licensed exclusively for the Konami title. Although AS Roma and SSC Napoli have been brought back, EA SPORTS is still missing some big clubs from the Italian top flight in FC 25. Crests, jerseys, stadiums and club names may not be displayed true to the original. However, the professionals will be included authentically due to the cooperation with the global players’ association FIFPro.
