Mike Krack: No denial about possible Audi switch

Mike Krack is considered a possible candidate for the team principal position at Audi: When asked, the Luxembourger is evasive and does not give a clear denial

Will Mike Krack soon be joining Sauber? The 52-year-old from Luxembourg is currently still in charge of Aston Martin as team principal, but rumor has it that Audi would like to lure Krack to Hinwil to take up the position of team principal

So far, these are nothing more than rumors, but when asked about them, Krack does not give a clear denial. “Let’s keep our feet on the ground,” he says when asked by Sky about the Audi rumors. “Of course, it’s nice to be talked about again and again. But you have to keep your focus on the task at hand.”

“That is clearly this car for now,” says Krack, referring to the Aston Martin. He says that Aston Martin has “enough to do in terms of 2025 and especially 2026 not to deal with such rumors”.

Although Krack cleverly avoids the answer, a concrete denial that he will not be leaving the team looks different.

The position of Team Principal would still be vacant at Audi: although the appointment of former Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto was announced this week, the Italian will take on the positions of COO (Chief Operating Officer) and CTO (Chief Technical Officer) – there is no Team Principal as yet.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi is currently the most likely man for this position, but the Italian does not call himself team principal. He is officially “only” a team representative

He was part of the press conference in Belgium on Friday and was asked about the departures of Andreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann as well as the vacant team principal position. But he referred to Binotto and decisions that will only be made after a familiarization process.

“I think it’s clear that Mattia is the leader of the team, and of course it will be part of his decision to put together the management team,” says Alunni Bravi. “He will have time to get an idea of whether the current management team and the whole organizational structure is suitable to bring our whole group to F1 level.”

“I can say that Mattia has the full support of everyone at Audi, including myself, to achieve a quick integration and to understand what the current Sauber team is and what we think could be helpful for the next steps. “
