The man from Karlsruhe misses out on a place in the round of 16
German tennis pro Yannick Hanfmann has missed out on a place in the round of 16 at the ATP Masters in Miami. The man from Karlsruhe lost 1:6, 0:6 to Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria after just 47 minutes of play.
A few hours earlier, compatriot Jan-Lennard Struff had also lost 6:7 (3:7), 4:6 to Australian Alex De Minaur in the third round
Swiatek disappointed
With Olympic champion Alexander Zverev and Dominik Koepfer, two Germans are in the round of 16 in Florida. In the round of the last 16, fourth seed Zverev will face Karen Khachanov, while Koepfer will play the favored Russian Daniil Medvedev from 17:00.
In the women’s singles, world number one Iga Swiatek was surprisingly eliminated in the round of 16. The Polish player, who had recently won the opening match of the “Sunshine Double” in Indian Wells, lost to Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova 4:6, 2:6. “I’m disappointed because I thought I would play better here,” said Swiatek after the match.
