Puma and Tommy Hilfiger are out, but Mercedes has now officially confirmed Adidas as its new partner – the first joint collection will be released in February
Adidas will be the supplier to the Mercedes racing team for the 2025 Formula 1 season. On Tuesday, the Silver Arrows finally officially confirmed “a multi-year partnership” with the German sportswear manufacturer.
“Our partnership with Adidas is a clear commitment by our team to start writing our next chapter. Adidas is an iconic brand that shares not only our commitment to excellence, but also to style and elegance,” said team principal Toto Wolff.
In a press release, Mercedes announced that together with Adidas, “a comprehensive collection of apparel, footwear and accessories for the entire team and its fan base” will be designed and released during the course of the 2025 season.
“The specially designed team equipment will be tailored to the individual needs of each team member and will also be made available to fans. The partnership also includes clothing, shoes and accessories,” the press release states.
Until the end of 2024, Mercedes was still equipped by Puma, and there was also a partnership with the fashion company Tommy Hilfiger. Both contracts have now expired and the companies’ logos have already disappeared from the list of official team partners.
“We are very happy to return to the world of motorsport,” explains Björn Gulden, CEO of Adidas, adding that they are “very proud” to be working with “one of the most successful teams of all time” with immediate effect.
While Formula One is new territory for Adidas, the company’s logo has been seen in other racing series in the past. For example, it was a sponsor of Porsche in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for a number of years.
In football, Adidas was the supplier of the German national team for many years. However, the contract that ran until 2026 was not renewed. With the Mercedes Formula 1 team, Adidas has now found a new strong partner.
The new Mercedes team collection for the 2025 season is to be presented in February.
