Melbourne – US Open champion Daniil Medvedev has reached the final of the Australian Open for the second time and will meet Rafael Nadal.
In the second semi-final in Melbourne, the Russian world number two defeated Greek world number four Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. At the Australian Open 2021, the 25-year-old had also won against Tsitsipas in the semi-finals, but then missed out on the title against Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic.
In the first semi-final, Spaniard Nadal defeated Italian Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The 35-year-old can clinch his 21st Grand Slam title with a final victory over Medvedev on Sunday (9.30am German time/Eurosport) and become the sole record winner at the four major tournaments.
