“Means everything to us”: NNOwO wins the Equal eSports Cup

NNOwO is the second winner in the history of the Equal eSports Cup. In a close final at gamescom 2024, the LoL team from NNO prevailed against G2 Hel

In Cologne, NNOwO lived up to its own favorite status. After the group stage, the team went into the final round at gamescom 2024 with seven wins and two losses as the top team in the LoL competition for female and non-binary players. With the first spot in the Grand Final already secured, the eventual champions could relax and see who they would be up against in the final

The NNOwO opponent was played between GO Aurora and G2 Hel, which had already taken part in the first edition of the LoL event last year. The G2 quintet had the better end in the direct comparison and were therefore allowed to play for the title after finishing fourth in the first edition in 2023. However, the team led by Swede ‘Caltys’ was narrowly beaten 2-1 by NNOwO. NNOwO accepted the trophy and the 5,000 euros in prize money

A great moment for NNOwO player Miella Steger. “This is amazing! This win means everything to us. We worked hard and it paid off. Each of us showed what we’re made of in the final,” said a delighted ‘CatgirlMiella’, for whom the success was special for another reason. After all, the Botlan native is one of the players that the esports player foundation (epf) supports with the Equal eSports Initiative.

The aim of the initiative by epf, Telekom and SK Gaming is to give female and non-binary players a platform for eSports in order to put them on an equal footing with male eSports players and create role models. An endeavor that Vitality player ‘Tifa’ is also committed to, as she told us in an interview.
