McLaren unveils livery for new 2023/24 Formula E season

McLaren has unveiled the livery for the 2023/24 Formula E season – Sam Bird and Jack Hughes’ cars continue to shine in papaya orange

Ahead of the official test in Valencia (23-27 October), McLaren has presented the livery for the tenth Formula E season in 2023/24. The two Formula cars of Sam Bird and Jack Hughes still shine in the typical papaya orange of the McLaren family, which is also known from Formula 1. McLaren already used these colours in the last Formula E season, but the design has been further developed.

In addition to the striking papaya orange, large parts of the car are again in black. However, the bright blue, which was added as a third colour in the previous season, has disappeared. Instead, the orange areas are broken up by black elements, giving McLaren’s Formula E racer a modern look.

“As we prepare for our second season in Formula E, we are building on everything we learned in Season 9,” says team principal Ian James. “We are continually evolving as a team and this livery represents that progress. I can’t wait to see the car with this new livery on the tracks we’ll be racing on in Season 10.”

Last year, Rene Rast, a German driver, was still driving for the team, however the BMW works driver left the team after McLaren’s debut season. His place will be taken by Sam Bird, who will be Jack Hughes’ new teammate.

McLaren, which had emerged from the world champion Mercedes team, finished eighth in the team standings last year and set some highlights, including a third-place finish by Rast at Diriyah and two pole positions. However, further podium finishes were not forthcoming and Rast ended the season in 13th place overall behind Hughes. The tenth Formula E season 2023/24 starts on 13 January 2024 in Mexico City.
