UFC superstar Conor McGregor has been arrested in his native Ireland.
He was taken into custody for “alleged road traffic offences”, his spokeswoman confirmed to ESPN.
“Mr McGregor was on his way to the gym when he was stopped by Irish police for alleged road traffic offences,” Karen Kessler said. “He passed the drug and alcohol tests at the station. “
According to The Independent, police pulled the world famous cage fighter over for reckless driving.
McGregor faces jail in worst-case scenario
Sergeant Margaret Flanagan confirmed to ESPN a man in his 30s was arrested for “dangerous driving” in the Palmerstown area of Dublin on Tuesday night.
McGregor’s Bentley was briefly impounded before the superstar regained it as well as his freedom. He must stand trial next month.
The maximum penalty is up to six months in prison and the payment of 5,000 euros.
McGregor has already had several run-ins with the law, including traffic offences.
In 2018, he also threw in a bus window for going after his upcoming opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov. In 2019, he punched a man in a Dublin bar and had to pay a €1,000 fine.
