The Japanese martial arts league Rizin has won boxing legend Floyd Mayweather for another fight. It’s against an MMA star and YouTuber.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather wants to do it again: The 45-year-old is set to step back into the ring in September, once again in Japan.
Martial arts promotion Rizin announced in a press conference on Monday that Mayweather will compete under its banner for a second time in September, this time opposing Japanese MMA fighter Mikura Asakura.

It’s Mayweather’s third show fight after his mega-fight against UFC superstar Conor McGregor, which was still under official boxing rules in 2017: Mayweather dismantled young kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa at Rizin on New Year’s Eve 2018, followed by an inconclusive slugfest with YouTube star Logan Paul last year.
The fight against Asakura follows on from that, as the latter also runs a successful YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers. As a martial artist, however, the 29-year-old featherweight from Japan is more experienced, having contested 19 fights, 16 of them victorious.
Mayweather was inducted into boxing’s Hall of Fame at the weekend, the self-promotional artist looking back on an exceptional career with 50 wins in 50 fights and 15 world title reigns in five weight classes.
