Maximilian Günther finishes the current Formula E season in seventh place overall: The Maserati driver celebrates one victory and four podiums
Two pole positions, four podiums and one race win: Maximilian Günther can be happy about “the best season of his Formula E career so far”. In the end, the Maserati driver occupies seventh position in the overall standings with 101 points. “I am very, very proud of our second half of the season,” Günther sums up after the season finale in London. “We have built a great base and achieved good results. It was the goal from the beginning to be at the front and we definitely achieved that in the last races.”
Yet things didn’t go as planned at the finale on the ExCeL street circuit in London. “It was a difficult race weekend for us,” says Günther. “The track didn’t harmonise with our car as we would have liked. “
“Even stronger next season!”
“Unfortunately, we also had some minor problems, otherwise a points result would have been possible,” the German reports about various difficulties with the car. In the first race Günther finished twelfth, in the second race he only ended up in 14th position.
“Nevertheless, we can leave this season with our heads held high,” says the 26-year-old, who was able to leave his team-mate Edoardo Mortara far behind. By comparison, the Italian is 14th overall in the championship with 39 points. “Of course there are still open points that we want to optimise for the future. “
“We will work through the season and make the necessary adjustments,” Günther, whose contract with Maserati-MSG actually expires, is combative. “I am sure we will come back even stronger next season!”
