It was only in February that Matheus Cunha extended his contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but now the former Bundesliga professional is looking to take the next step in his career. He has plenty of offers.
With Brazil, Matheus Cunha lost bitterly 4-1 at eternal rivals Argentina last week and his club – Wolverhampton Wanderers – are just 17th in the Premier League. In purely table terms, they are still in the relegation battle.
But unlike his teams, things are going really well for Matheus Cunha personally. He was the only goalscorer for the national team, scoring the interim 1:2 equalizer.
Slot: Cunha is a “quality player ‘
Now, however, the former Hertha and Leipzig player hinted in an interview with the Guardian that he could still leave the club in the near future: ’Now we are close to achieving our goal. But I’ve made it clear that I have to take the next step.
The fact that he is not the only one who recognizes his potential is shown by the recent clear praise from Liverpool coach Arne Slot. In the run-up to the game between Liverpool FC and Wolves in mid-February, the Dutchman described the 25-year-old as a “quality player who has what it takes to play for one of the five best teams in England”.
