Marc and Alex Marquez are preparing for the Grand Prix in Austin – the younger brother surprises with his choice of bike
Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez got in the mood for the upcoming Grand Prix of the Americas this weekend with a private test drive at the Aspar Circuit. The track in Guadassuar (Valencia) is a frequent winter training destination for the two MotoGP riders.
Last Friday they were there again, meeting other world championship riders from the lower categories, including reigning Moto3 world champion David Alonso, as well as Izan Guevara, Adrian Huertas, Ivan Ortola and Jaume Masia, as confirmed by the circuit in an official press release.
The photos released also showed the bikes used by the two brothers. Marc Marquez chose a model to which he has a special connection: the new Panigale V2.
He has already used this bike several times in winter training and even received a special edition from Ducati with his starting number 93 for his birthday.
The choice of Alex Marquez, however, was more striking. The Gresini rider did not opt for a bike from Borgo Panigale – as is usual for Ducati riders – but chose a Yamaha, or more precisely the R6.
So the brothers are heading to Austin well prepared to continue their dominance in MotoGP. While Marc Marquez has won all poles and races so far and leads the overall standings with 74 out of a possible 74 points, Alex Marquez has finished second in each race and is the first pursuer.
The MotoGP circuit in Austin is a favorite place for Marc Marquez in particular, as he has won there several times – although he has also experienced setbacks, such as his crash last year when he was in the lead. With a total of seven victories, the Spaniard is still the record winner of the premier class in Austin.
