Tennis pro Tatjana Maria has failed to reach the semi-finals at the dress rehearsal for the US Open. The 36-year-old from Bad Saulgau lost to Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain 4-6, 3-6 after 1:53 hours at the WTA tournament in Cleveland. Sorribes Tormo will face Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia in the final.
Maria, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2022, saw her winning streak come to an end after seven consecutive victories. Prior to her start in Cleveland/Ohio, she had triumphed at the WTA 125 tournament in Barranquilla/Colombia.
At the US Open in New York starting on Monday, Maria will face the experienced Croatian Petra Martic in the first round.
