Marc Marquez talks about how he enjoyed the end of his dry spell not only with the Gresini but also the Honda team – “Season goal achieved in Aragon”, but …
Marc Marquez was not yet able to enjoy his triumph last weekend in peace. The time until the next MotoGP weekend, which is just around the corner, was too short for that. After Marquez completely dominated the Aragon weekend in Spain, taking pole, sprint win and Grand Prix victory, the first of two home games for his employer Gresini Racing is now on the agenda
This weekend, the San Marino Grand Prix will be held in Misano. The weekend after next (September 20-22), the MotoGP circus will be back in Misano for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Marc Marquez, who is now also a race winner on Ducati, can approach the remaining races of the 2024 season in a more relaxed manner than before. However, he and the Gresini team are now setting themselves new goals.
“I achieved my goal for this season in Aragon,” said Marquez. However, the Gresini star does not believe that he can immediately transfer his strong form from last weekend to the Misano weekend(s): “I know that the circumstances at the Aragon weekend were very special. Now we have to work on the point that is actually the most difficult, namely finding consistency. “
Marquez and the Gresini Ducati Team have celebrated the Aragon triumph as time has allowed since then. But the six-time MotoGP World Champion has not only spent time with his current team members to enjoy the success.
“Yesterday we met up at the Gresini team for a good dinner. And it was also yesterday that I went to the Repsol Honda team pit to let the people there know that they are also part of this victory,” revealed Marquez.

By “the people there”, the former Honda factory rider means far more than just his former crew chief Santi Hernandez, who now works with Joan Mir. “It’s not just Santi. The others also suffered with me and they helped me when I was at the bottom,” said Marquez, thinking back to the difficult final months and years after his serious accident in Jerez in 2020.
“That’s why it was important for me to let the people in this pit know that they are also part of my process,” said the Aragon triumphant, explaining his gesture on Wednesday. No question: Marc Marquez missed the feeling of a Grand Prix victory. After all, more than 1,000 days have passed between his last victory in a Sunday race and the next one.
