Manchester City Eying Up Wolves’ Ruben Neves in £60m Move

Ruben Neves Wolves

The Wolverhampton Wanderers surprised quite a few people in the transfer window this summer, with the acquisition of a long list of Portuguese players including the coveted Joao Moutinho. However, it is perhaps the ability to keep hold of the up and coming talent of Ruben Neves that you could see as the bigger coup.

Neves had an outstanding season last year as he helped to guide Wolves back into the Premiership and he caught the attention of a lot of other clubs in the process. Liverpool is said to have shown an interest and now Manchester City is reported to be considering a big-money bid as high as £60m in January when the transfer window reopens.

Manchester City missed out on Jorginho

Manchester City’s transfer plans were somewhat scuppered when their top target Jorginho decided to choose Chelsea over the Premier League champions. City got their long-term target Mahrez but are now facing a few months without Kevin De Bruyne, which could convince City to make a move for Neves.

Ruben Neves is a defensive midfielder that even at 21 years of age had a huge role in the promotion campaign. He was signed from Porto for £15m and it is estimated that he has at least tripled his value after a stand-out season.

Neves can bring a lot to any team

Wolves will be trying desperately to keep hold of the star, who has continued his great Championship form into his first two Premier League matches, even weighing in with a goal and an assist already. A free-kick specialist, his great goal against Everton is unlikely to be the last free-kick we see him score in the Premiership, more Premiership news on Sportsoftheday.

The clubs are likely to be queuing up come January and Manchester City will no doubt be right at the head of that queue, looking to strengthen their team yet again with young talent.
