Scorer Shuranov “overjoyed “

“We were 1-0 down and then we score two goals – that’s outstanding,” said the striker, “overjoyed” at the Sky microphone. His coach Robert Klauß played an even more decisive role in the victory than the U-21 international.

Because the club coach had made five changes in the closing stages, three of his jokers provided the two late goals. Ten minutes before the lucky punch, Fabian Nürnberger had put the ball into the net, and Dennis Borkowski prepared the final point. “We can thank our players who came off the bench,” said the 36-year-old Klauß.

Turning a game around for the first time under Klauß

The coach and the team have reason to celebrate not only because of the success. For Nuremberg, it was the first win after falling behind under Klauß, who has been in office since the summer of 2020. The last win after falling behind was under the current 1860 coach Michael Köllner – on the 29th matchday of the 2017/18 season, the FCN won 3:2 against Heidenheim.

Klauß said he had his broad squad to thank for the success. “The guys who came in made the difference,” he happily admitted. After three previous defeats in competitive matches, the victory was also important for the Nuremberg team in view of the upcoming match at home against league leaders St. Pauli.
