The whole of France was rejoicing last night as their team lifted the World Cup for the second time. Les Blues have had a very impressive tournament and after Spain, Germany, Brazil and Argentina all went home early, France became the favourites to win the World Cup in Russia.
One person who could not hide their pride and ecstasy after the game was the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. In television coverage of the team’s celebrations, Macron was seen partying with the French heroes and even got involved in the ‘dabbing’ poses that Pogba has made a worldwide football celebration.

Before he joined the players on the pitch, Macron was seen pumping his arms in the arm in emphatic fashion. His celebrations were not quite of the Jose Mourinho touchline knee-slide level but he looked as passionate as Jurgen Klopp does during an important Liverpool match.
Macron has certainly shown that he is a man of the people and a person that is hugely patriotic. The World Cup is a great time for nations to come together and the teams that reached the semi-finals have certainly done that. Croatian fans can be hugely proud that their team went so far in the tournament for the first time. England is another team that saw success for the first time in a long time, which lifted spirits and national pride for a few weeks. Then there is also Belgium, who was unlucky not to make it to the final after some exceptional performances – they returned to a hero’s welcome in Belgium.
France’s team have become legends
The World Cup may be over now but the partying in France will not be for some time. New heroes have been born and the feeling of pride that a World Cup win emanates can last a lifetime. Mbappe, Pogba, Griezmann and co. have ensured that they will be heroes in their country for the rest of their lives.
