Ludwigsburg sign Edigin from Hamburg

The MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have signed Eddy Edigin, their first newcomer for the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old centre comes from league rivals Hamburg Towers and receives a one-year contract with the Giants. Edigin, who grew up in Regensburg, had played “a good first season” in the BBL in Hamburg. “With his physicality and strength, he can set the tone defensively around the basket and will bring us energy all over the court on the offensive end,” new Ludwigsburg coach Josh King said of the 2.01-metre tall newcomer.

“Ludwigsburg is known in the league for their unpleasant style of play. They have always been successful with it in recent years – and have now shown me how I can fit into this system. It quickly became clear to me that I want to be a part of this philosophy. I want to help the team and celebrate many victories together with the fans,” the newcomer is quoted as saying on the Ludwigsburg club website.

Edigin started out playing football, but he quickly discovered his passion for basketball. Via Regensburg, Munich and Nördlingen, he landed in Bamberg, where he established himself in the affiliated Baunach farm team in the Pro A. After two years with the basketball record champions Bayer Giants Leverkusen (2019-2021) and the runner-up championship there, the 2.01-metre-tall centre ventured into the German top flight and to the Hamburg Towers. Now he is starting a new chapter with the Giants.
