Ludwigsburg on course for the quarter-finals

The MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals of the FIBA Basketball Champions League. The German Basketball League club beat JDA Dijon 71:59 (25:32) at home on Wednesday

This means that Ludwigsburg, like Telekom Baskets Bonn, have a record of three wins and one defeat in their intermediate round group, while Dijon and Galatasaray Istanbul have only won one game. The top two teams qualify for the quarter-finals of the European Cup.

Ludwigsburg got off to a false start: After four minutes, they had only scored two points, but had already lost the ball five times. The home side got into the game with successful threes and trailed by just 13:16 after the first quarter. The Swabians completely lost the thread in the second period, conceding 16 turnovers at the break and could not complain about trailing 25:32.

Ludwigsburg got into something of a rhythm for the first time in the third period and the home side tied the scores at 43:43 shortly before the end of the quarter. Ludwigsburg took the lead for the first time since the end of the first quarter with six minutes remaining and went on a 9:0 run to seize the momentum. Ludwigsburg’s top scorer Jayvon Graves (20 points) crowned his performance with a spectacular slam-dunk with two minutes remaining to make it 64:55.
