The 16-year-old son of ex-Formula 1 driver Claudio Patrese, Lorenzo, will compete in the GT World Challenge Europe – He joins Tresor
The GT World Challenge Europe welcomes the son of ex-Formula 1 driver Riccardo Patrese for the 2022 season. Lorenzo Patrese will take his seat in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO2 for Tresor with support from Car Collection. The team fields two cars in the championship for both sprint and endurance races and will also compete in the Spa 24h.
Patrese can rely on the experience of Tresor and Car Collection, who will join forces in the 2022 season. Lorenzo Patrese is the team’s youngest driver at the age of 16. The Italian competed in his first season in the Italian Formula 4 Series in 2021 and finished third in the rookie standings. For him, it is the step into GT racing.
“I’m very honoured and looking forward to competing this year,” said the ex-Formula 1 driver’s son. “It will be a challenge as it’s my first year in GT racing, but with the engineers and the team we will do the best we can. I can’t wait to start!” Patrese will share the car with youngster Axel Blom and racing veteran Hugo Valente.
The trio will compete in the GT World Challenge Europe Silver classification. The driver squad for the PRO programme will be announced at a later date. The season will kick off on 2 and 3 April in Monza, Italy with the first endurance race. The sprint season will open at Brands Hatch on 30 April and 1 May.
