Loan until end of season: Amiri joins CFC Genoa

Now it’s official: Nadiem Amiri is leaving Bayer Leverkusen to join Italian first division side CFC Genoa on loan until the end of the season.

The move had been on the cards for several weeks, but on Saturday Bayer Leverkusen made it official: Nadiem Amiri will leave the Bundesliga club until the end of the season and join CFC Genoa on loan. There he will meet German coach Alexander Blessin.

“Nadiem didn’t get the amount of playing time he wanted with us recently,” said Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes. “That’s why we understand his transfer ambitions and wish him every success in Serie A.” It was not announced whether the penultimate-placed team in the Italian league has an option to buy. a permanent stay is said to be dependent on the Italians possibly staying in the league.

The 25-year-old has made 13 appearances (one goal) for Bayer in the Bundesliga this season, including ten substitute appearances. Leverkusen are said to have already found a possible replacement in Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe.
