Leipzig PCR tests negative: Union game can probably take place

Break a sigh of relief for RB Leipzig: The PCR tests on Tuesday were all negative. This means that the game at Union Berlin can probably go ahead.

On Tuesday, Leipzig had announced “further positive Corona cases in the support staff” and cancelled training. If there had been a further infection, the Union game on Friday would have been threatened with cancellation.

Instead, the Bundesliga eighth-placed team announced on Wednesday morning that “the PCR tests carried out on Tuesday had produced negative results in all those tested”.

If the rapid tests, which will be carried out at noon “as an additional precautionary measure “, are also negative, the team will resume training. The staging of the Union match is “not at risk according to the current status”.

Leipzig, where according to the club all players and coaches have been fully vaccinated or have recovered, have recently had to report numerous positive Corona cases. Among those affected on Tuesday is said to be co-coach Achim Beierlorzer, who had stood in for head coach Jesse Marsch, who was also infected, in the last two competitive matches.
