LeBron James wants to play an NBA season with his son

Before LeBron James ends his career in the NBA, the superstar of the Los Angeles Lakers would like to play with his son Bronny. The 37-year-old expressed this wish in an interview with “The Athletic” on the sidelines of the All-Star weekend in Cleveland.

“In my last year, I’m going to play with my son. Whatever team Bronny is on, that’s where I’m going to play. Money won’t be a factor,” said James.

James: “I would do anything to play with my son for a year “

17-year-old Bronny James is currently still in high school and plays basketball at Sierra Canyon School in California. According to NBA regulations, players are not allowed to turn pro until one year after their high school years. Accordingly, Bronny James could play his first year in the NBA in the 2024/25 season at the earliest. During that season, LeBron James will turn 40. “I would do anything to play with my son for a year,” the four-time champion stressed.

That’s why James isn’t completely ruling out a return to Cleveland. “I’m not saying I’m going to come back and play, I don’t know,” James said, but made no predictions: “I don’t know, my future holds.”

James was born in Akron, Ohio, about 50 kilometres from Cleveland, and played himself in a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey from 2003 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018. In between, he went on the scoreboard for the Miami Heat, and since 2018 he has been under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. James is considered one of the best basketball players in NBA history.
