LeBron James and son in Lakers squad for NBA start

The historic moment is just around the corner: basketball superstar LeBron James and his son Bronny have been named in the Los Angeles Lakers squad for the NBA season opener.

If LeBron James and his son Bronny play together against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night (4:00 a.m. ET), they would be the first father-son duo in the history of the NBA.

The Lakers selected 20-year-old Bronny in the second round at 55th overall in the summer draft. LeBron had already taken the court with his son in the pre-season, when they lost 114:118 to the Phoenix Suns. Now the official debut is set to follow.

James Sr. has long dreamed of playing with Bronny in the NBA. It won’t be easy for his offspring, though. It was only in the dress rehearsal shortly before the start of the season that Bronny James managed to score a breakthrough with 17 points, four rebounds and three steals. In the five test matches before that, he averaged 1.6 points in 12.4 minutes and a field goal percentage of 20 percent, so doubts are running high.

The expectations of the fans, of LeBron James himself and his agent Rich Paul “do not correspond to the reality of his game,” an NBA manager told the TV channel EPSN anonymously. Bronny’s father recently blocked questions about his son’s situation. He said that Bronny is “a grown man who can deal with all the pressure himself.” Now Bronny could get the opportunity to show his critics.
