Lazio and Tudor part ways – Klose a successor candidate?

Igor Tudor was coach of Lazio Rome for three months. Now the Romans and the head coach are already going their separate ways again

The coaching carousel in Italy continues to turn. Not even three months passed between his enthronement as Maurizio Sarri’s successor and the quick end in Rome: Igor Tudor (46) is already out of his coaching job at Lazio Rome.

Tudor will apparently announce his departure at a final press conference on Friday. According to Sky Sport Italia, differences of opinion over the direction of the club were the main reason for the separation

Will Klose come if Baroni cancels?

According to Italian media such as the Gazzetta dello Sport, Miroslav Klose is said to be a candidate to succeed Tudor. The 2014 world champion as a player, who played for Lazio himself from 2011 until the end of his career in 2016, has hardly any experience in the head coach position to date. The 45-year-old Palatinate native has only worked as a head coach in Austria for SCR Altach.

However, Marco Baroni (60) from Hellas Verona, who is said to have been in negotiations with AC Monza for some time but still has a contract in Verona, is apparently the Lazio board’s preferred candidate. Klose’s big moment could come if no deal is reached between Lazio and Baroni. In this case, Klose is said to be high on the wish list of those responsible as an alternative

Only two defeats under Tudor

Tudor had signed a one-and-a-half-year contract in Rome, i.e. until 2025, with an option for a further season. Of his only eleven competitive matches with the club, his team only lost two (six wins, three draws). In the end, Lazio managed to qualify for the 2024/25 Europa League
