The talent of Erling Haaland was once not hidden from Jahn Regensburg either. The manager even dared to make a bold call.
Erling Haaland in a Jahn Regensburg shirt – that sounds pretty absurd today, but Christian Keller could certainly imagine it once. And so the now outgoing manager of the second-division club simply asked.
“We are scouting in Austria. We saw Haaland in one of his first games when he moved to Salzburg,” Keller told the Mittelbayerische Zeitung. “I then took the liberty of calling the club manager to see if Haaland might be considered for a loan. He laughed out loud. But it was worth a try.”
Haaland, who joined RB Salzburg from Molde FK in January 2019, preferred to join Borussia Dortmund a year later. His next transfer is already in the offing next summer – Regensburg will then definitely no longer be in the draw.
