Last time at the Etihad? What Salah says about Klopp, Guardiola and Marmoush

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has spoken out ahead of the top match at Manchester City. Among other things, he talked about Jürgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola – and Omar Marmoush.

It may be his last appearance at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium. Mohamed Salah’s contract expires in the summer, and there seems to be no prospect of an extension at the moment. At the beginning of the year, the 32-year-old emphasized that there was “no progress”.

Of course, he would prefer to say goodbye with the league title. The Reds have an eight-point lead over Arsenal, but have played one more game. If they lose in Manchester on Sunday (5:30 p.m.), it could get exciting again.

Even though Liverpool are currently experiencing a minor period of weakness under Arne Slot, Salah is satisfied with the post-Klopp era. “I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly,” the Egyptian said in an interview with Sky. One advantage, he said, is that Slot ‘hasn’t changed that much’ compared to Klopp. He has ‘more contact than before’ with Klopp, he joked. ”We’ve been writing to each other every now and then over the past few months. He wants to come here soon too.”

The fact that Liverpool are heading for the championship is also due to their great rival. Manchester City are in a long-term low, with the defending champions 17 points behind the Reds. On top of that, ManCity had to digest the clear elimination in the Champions League play-offs against Real Madrid.
Salah & Co. will play on the counter again.

Nevertheless, Salah had only words of praise for the Guardiola team. The Citizens have “one of the best coaches of all time and great players,” the Egyptian said he expects a very tough game. “We just have to stay calm and try,” he said. Slot likes “the counter-pressing, we continue to play on the counter, but he wants more ball control with us.”

Salah and national team colleague Omar Marmoush may face each other for the first and last time in the Premier League. The two apparently have a close relationship. “He’s like a little brother,” said Salah about the 26-year-old, who scored a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur.
